Alaqua Cox was born on February 14, 1997, into the nurturing care of Elena and Bill Cox, arriving into the world with a unique perspective as a deaf child. Her journey began in the embrace of the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin, where she blossomed within the rich heritage of the Menominee and Mohican nation. Alaqua is one of four siblings, sharing her upbringing with Jordan, Katie and Will.
She attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, where she was an active student-athlete on the girls’ basketball team from 2014-2015 and the volleyball squad. Cox lives with a prosthetic leg, though she has chosen not to publicly share the details surrounding her need for the prosthesis. Alaqua Cox stepped into the spotlight with her debut acting role as Echo in the Marvel series Hawkeye, a groundbreaking moment in her career that began on December 3, 2020.
