Brett Patrick Dalton was born in San Jose, California on January 7, 1883. Dalton went to Westmont High School in Campbell, California, where he graduated in 2001. He first became interested in acting when he tried out for a school production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

In high school, Brett was president of both the California Scholarship Federation program and the student council. He played the main role in the school play My Favorite Year. After getting his bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley, Brett received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama in 2011.
