Deepti Asthana is an Indian Independent documentary photographer, national geographic explorer, storyteller and film-maker. In her works, she mainly sheds light on- environmental and gender issues in traditional societies in India.
Early Life
Deepti is a self-taught photographer based in Mumbai, India. She previously worked in IT companies in Delhi, Mumbai and United Kingdom before making a career switch to photography.
Her works are focussed on telling the stories of Indian women who had been overshadowed for too long and always strives to create a narrative where the color tones fit with the story.
Career
She had ventured into the remotest parts of India and her photographs are nothing less than a revelation every time. Her personal project – Women of India, is a powerful expression of the untold stories of women across the country and one of her best works till date.
In The year 2020, Deepti was awarded by World Press Photo under their Global Talent 6*6 program.
